HSBC HQ, Canary Wharf, London
On Friday 27th February, 13 children from Mercury were lucky enough to go on a trip to the HSBC HQ, in Canary Wharf, London. Setting off just before 10, we got the train to Lewisham, then the DLR to Canary Wharf. We even got to sit at the front, where we pretended to be the drivers. On arrival, the Chairman of the bank gave a speech about Chinese New Year. Excited, we saw a traditional Chinese folk dance and a Tai Chi demonstration (which we tried ourselves, later). Then, there was the Lion dance! Luca, Jeremy and Grace breathed new life into the lion by painting the eyes on to it. The dance was amazing, so was the music that accompanied it. After this, we had a fantastic lunch in the Executive Suite. Before travelling back, we got the lift to the 41st floor. The amazing views meant we could nearly see home!
