Carroty Wood – 2014’s Year 6 residential
2014’s Year 6 residential visit to Carroty Wood was a huge success and both the children and staff had a fantastic time. Over the course of the 4 days, the children took part in a range of activities including abseiling, archery, raft building, high rope climbing and den building, with many of them trying things they had never experienced and with lots overcoming fears and anxieties.
The weather for the trip was mainly good, but rain on the second day made for some opportunities to enjoy ‘messy’ fun in the mud.
Over the course of the trip we were very fortunate to have visits from Mrs Sengupta, Mr Twyman, Mr Lynch and Mr Howard along with a camp fire sing-song led by Mr Gregory and Mr Solanki, all ably accompanied by Mrs Saunders cooking up a feast on the barbecue. A big thank you to all of them for taking the time to come down – the kids really appreciated it!
Finally I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff who made the trip possible – Miss Hemmings, Miss Smiles, Miss Liston, Mrs Chandler, Mrs Rutherford and Mrs Hancock for accompanying the children. Craig from CRIBS for being a fantastic chef and keeping us all fed, and finally Mrs Fitzgerald in the office for all her support. But most of all a HUGE thank you to the children who made the trip so amazing, their behaviour was outstanding and it was terrific to see them all learning new skills and overcoming challenges, whilst having some really good fun in the sun!
