Our trip to the IMAX
On Tuesday 29th April 2014, year 3 went to the BFI IMAX Cinema in Waterloo, London. We walked to Bexleyheath railway station to catch the 9:31 train, however it was eight minutes late! We finally got on the train and talked all the way to Waterloo, where we then walked 5 minutes to the BFI IMAX Cinema.
It was really cool because we went through a tunnel underneath the roundabout to get into the cinema doors! As we walked through the door, we went up some stairs and at the top we could smell the scrumptious popcorn being made. Kindly, a man showed us to the cinema where we watched the ‘Mysteries of Egypt’.
Excitingly, after that, we walked across the road to the BFI Southbank Centre, where we participated in a series of activities with a man called Reza. In the BFI Southbank centre’s auditorium, we watched clips about Egypt and parts of Egyptian movies, such as Scooby Doo and the Mummy too. Afterwards, we observed Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Subsequently, we wrote our names in Egyptian Hieroglyphics on papyrus and smelt various fragrances that would have been used in Ancient Egyptian tombs.
Following this, year 3 walked back to Waterloo station and quickly caught the 15:05 train to Bexleyheath Station. When we arrived, we travelled back to our lovely school: Upland.
All in all, we think it was one of the best days ever, because we saw an extraordinary cinema and educational film. Although, we wished we could get some popcorn!
