To coincide with World Book Day on Thursday 4th March, we decided to celebrate the life and works of William Shakespeare.

To help commemorate the fact that it is 400 years since the death of this this remarkable playwright, the whole school embraced the theme fully, through dressing up as a character from one of his plays, learning a song in assembly, aptly titled, “Will’s Wonderful Words,” participating in a drama workshop, led by a very talented and energetic actress from Perform4schools and studying either Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream or Macbeth in their English lessons.

Judging by the responses from the staff and children, the stories of Shakespeare are as enjoyable to read and perform today as they were all those years ago at The Globe Theatre.
