The London Symphony Orchestra’s “Ultimate Storyteller” workshops
Year 3 have been taking part in The London Symphony Orchestra’s “Ultimate Storyteller” workshops.
Members from the orchestra have been into school to show year three different orchestral instruments and compose music with them. The children then learnt a song about characters from the story of the “Arabian Nights” and is part of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade which they got to sing with the whole Orchestra in the Barbican Hall on Monday 10th February.
The sound the Orchestra made was breathtaking and was the first experience that most of our children, and many of the adults who came along to help, had had of hearing nearly a hundred orchestral instruments playing together.
Members from the Orchestra are visiting the children in school again on Tuesday 25th of March to help the Mr Gregory, Ms Jones (our violin teacher) and the children from Mercury make their own version of Sindbad’s journey across the seas.
